• Drink a melo lugmav (a substantial mouthful) from the cup.
• Ideally, the one reciting Kiddush drinks first.
• Distribute wine or grape juice to those present.
• Sit down.
1. Blessing Over Washing Hands
Hebrew:
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו, וְצִוָּנוּ עַל נְטִילַת יָדַיִם
Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech Ha’olam, Asher Kid’shanu B’mitzvotav, V’tzivanu Al Netilat Yadayim.
Translation:
Blessed are You, L-rd, our G-d, King of the Universe, Who sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us regarding the washing of hands.
2. Instructions Before the Blessing on Bread
He should hold the two loaves of bread with both hands and recite the Hamotzi blessing. Some have the custom to say these verses before the blessing:

Einei Chol Eilecha Yesaberu, Ve’Atah Noten Lahem Et Ochlam Be’ito; Potei’ach Et Yadecha U’Masbia Lechol Chai Ratzon.
Translation:
The eyes of all look to You with hope, and You give them their food in its time; You open Your hand and satisfy every living thing with favor.
4. Blessing on Bread (Hamotzi)
Hebrew:
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, הַמּוֹצִיא לֶחֶם מִן הָאָרֶץ
Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech Ha’olam, Hamotzi Lechem Min Ha’aretz.
Translation:
Blessed are You, L-rd, our G-d, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth.
5. Customary Action After the Blessing
He should break a piece (of bread) and dip it into salt three times.
